Character Creation: Abilities

Rolling
If rolling for abilities, use the ‘heroic’ method:
4d6, drop the lowest die
The total of all six abilities must add up to 71 or more
Character Creation: Hit Points
Method A
At first level, characters receive the maximum roll on their hit die. For every level, please observe the minimums per type of die in the table below. If you roll less than the minimum, you can re-roll or, if you’re impatient, use the minimum.
Method B
This is essentially the same as the method above with re-rolling, but minus the hassle of re-rolling thanks to math.
(sides of die / 2) + (result or roll / 2)
So, for example, with a d10 that would be 5 + (1d10 / 2). The table below has them spelled out.
Die Type | Minimum Roll | Formula |
d4 | 2 | 2 + (1d4 / 2) |
d6 | 4 | 3 + (1d6 / 2) |
d8 | 5 | 4 + (1d8 / 2) |
d10 | 6 | 5 + (1d10 / 2) |
d12 | 7 | 6 + (1d12 / 2) |
